What Is Organic

Organic is about the farming and it production systems. But it is not just simply being chemical free. It is about working with natural inputs and as little as possible of anything that will cause adverse environmental impact. It is free from trans-fats, GMOs (Genetically Modified Organism), and most additives. A key principle in organic production systems is to direct farming activity at improving the soil humus content so that plants and animals are being provided with an abundance of naturally occurring nutrients rather than water soluable elements.

For organic farming, a basic organic management plan is required that identifies the above processes is in place, supported by records that show what is actually achieved. It is an innovative dedicated and holistic form of organic farming that actively enhances people’s lives and the environment. It is a different perspective as Organic systems recognise that our health is directly connected to the health of the food we eat and, ultimately, protects the ecosystem and continually replenishes the most fragile non-renewable resource – the soil.

Why Organic

Products in the market place are made of either synthetic, natural or organic ingredients. When we use skincare products to look after our skin, do we also need to worry if they are going to cause any inner health concern? This is one of the most important questions to ask ourselves as our skin is the largest organ in our body and it can absorb as much as 60% of what we apply on it. Therefore it is important for us to know what ingredients have been used in our skincare products.

Generally synthetic chemicals are more likely to contain harmful contaminants, but they can occur in natural substances sometimes as well. Basically, using natural ingredients may reduce the risk of toxic contaminants. It is equally important to look at the integrity and quality standards of the manufacturers. True organic products do not contain a single trace of chemicals or GMOs.

Good for us: Organic ingredients are extracted naturally in a way that their purity and potency is not compromised. A number of studies have shown that the organic ingredients contain more potent vitamins, essential fatty acids, anti-oxidants and other nutrients than non-organic. Organic systems prohibit the use of artificial chemicals, pesticides and fertilisers.

Good for the soil: The organic farming system helps with the replenishment of the soil from natural organic matter. It prevents damage to our environment through the elimination of harsh chemicals prevalent in conventional agriculture.

Good for the Planet and our environment: Organic systems ensure sustainable farming, which reduces dependence on non-renewable resources. Organic production aims at all times towards sustainability, the management of the environment and wildlife as a priority. It helps the environment and promotes healthy living, because no pesticides are used – no pesticides enter the waterways.
