What Is Organic
Organic is about the farming and it production systems. But it is not just simply being chemical free. It is about working with natural inputs and as little as possible of anything that will cause adverse environmental impact. It is free from trans-fats, GMOs (Genetically Modified Organism), and most additives. A key principle in organic production systems is to direct farming activity at improving the soil humus content so that plants and animals are being provided with an abundance of naturally occurring nutrients rather than water soluable elements.
For organic farming, a basic organic management plan is required that identifies the above processes is in place, supported by records that show what is actually achieved. It is an innovative dedicated and holistic form of organic farming that actively enhances people's lives and the environment. It is a different perspective as Organic systems recognise that our health is directly connected to the health of the food we eat and, ultimately, protects the ecosystem and continually replenishes the most fragile non-renewable resource - the soil.
